A Message from the Superintendent

November 27, 2017

Welcome to Evergreen Catholic Separate Regional Division No. 2.  We are proud to serve families in five distinct communities: Devon, Hinton, Spruce Grove, Stony Plain, and Westlock.

Following in the footsteps of Jesus Christ, our mission in Evergreen Catholic Schools is to educate in an atmosphere of faith, hope, and love to prepare our students to live as compassionate, confident, and contributing citizens. Everything we do in our schools supports our mission:

Ever Growing, Learning, and Living in Christ

At each of our schools, I witness exemplary respect for and expression of our Catholic faith. Whether we bring the Church to school, or send the school to church, we provide our students with powerful opportunities to encounter God, and to be shaped by the Eucharist, the source and summit of our Christian life.

I wa
s recently at a school where a young child in a kindergarten class gave me this rock as a gift.  In that moment, I realized that my commitment as school superintendent is to make sure that every child in our schools will feel and realize "YOU ARE LOVED." Simple wisdom from a five-year-old.  In my role, I am blessed to learn every day from the youngest amongst us.

At one of our high schools, I was given this bracelet that states "In Christ, all are welcome, all belong". Like the rock and its message, the bracelet reminds me of the joys and responsibilities of a school superintendent.  Creating experiences of welcome and belonging is the most important thing we can do for every student. There they will find Jesus.

I am honoured to be the Superintendent of Evergreen Catholic School Division. You are invited to follow me on Twitter @SuperECSRD.
