The administration and staff would like to welcome back all the students and parents of St. Gregory Catholic School and would like to extend a warm welcome to all of those who are new to our community.  We are excited to start this year and we thank you for the opportunity to serve and teach the students and families of this community.

I would like to welcome some new faces to our staff: teaching in grade one this year is Ms. Henderson, teaching the grade 1/2 class is Mrs. Matheson, assisting in our library this year is Mrs. Fellows, working with our students providing "brain breaks" is Mrs. Van Klaveran. We would also like to welcome Mr. Langley, who will be teaching gr. 3this year to a permanent contract and to Mrs. Kos who will be working with our kindergarten students.

Our spiritual theme for the 2018-2019 is "Listen to God's Word with Joy". God wants us to find Joy! The joy of God's company, finding the joy of God's grace, the joy of his love, and the joy of God's forgiveness. Where can we find his joy? Well, we are being asked to find it right there in our bible scriptures- Listen to God's word with Joy, this theme is asking us to pay close attention to the scriptures when they are being read and to try and discover the joyful meanings that are in them.

And when we do, we will learn that God wants us to be joyful people; knowing that joy arises from the deepest parts of our hearts and that true joy will come from being obedient to his commandments.  We will find joy from times of sorrow and grief, we will find love when confronted with hatred, we will find peace from moments of aggression, and tolerance from moments of bigotry and racism.

We here at St. Gregory's want everyone to be able to not only experience joy this year, but to cultivate a school environment where we share our joy with others as well. We are looking forward to a very joyful year.

At St. Gregory Catholic School, we believe that students are at the heart of the choices and decisions we make on a daily basis. We strive to ensure that our students are safe, respected and happy members of our school community. When our students feel a positive connection to our school, they are more ready to learn and achieve to the best of their ability.

We believe that our parent community is an equally important part of the success of our school. We encourage our parents to participate in the daily learning activities of their child and in our school life. There are many opportunities for our parents to become connected to our school and we would encourage them to contribute their many gifts and talents by becoming active members of our School Council.

Please remember that communication between home and school is very important to us.  Do not hesitate to call or make an appointment with your child's teacher to discuss any concerns or questions.

The administration and staff are looking forward to an excellent year, one filled with many great memories and moments of joy.

Yours in Christ,

Mr. T. Fafard

Principal
