Principal's Message-June

June 07, 2018

It is hard to believe how quickly the school year has passed and come to an end. I would like to thank you for your faith, trust, and commitment to the mission of St. Gregory Catholic School.  It is your belief in the Catholic education values that help us to sustain our school.

Although it is a hectic time of year, it is the time when I most realize how blessed we all are to be part of the ministry of St. Gregory Catholic School.

As the school year comes to a close, our minds and hearts are filled to the brim. It's been a great year! What a school! Together we've learned much and shared experiences that will long remain with us in the years to come. The strength of our community and wholehearted passion to make our school a wonderful place of learning for our children primarily but for all of us, makes St. Gregory Catholic School truly a special place.

Special thanks to all of you who have contributed in ways small, large and unimaginable! Volunteering at our school, showing up to support your children, serving on committees, sharing your talents, supporting our work in countless ways and providing the resources to do what we dream and know is good for our children. Thanks for getting your kids to school on time each day, for kind notes of encouragement that mean so much, for sending your kids with healthy lunches obviously packed with love, for making sure homework gets done… and turned in. Thank you for providing rich and engaging, well-rounded experiences for your children and knowing that education is about joy, wonder and fostering curiosity, along with the development of social skills so needed to succeed. For these, and a million other things, we are truly grateful.

To those of our families who are leaving us for new places and adventures, we wish you all the best.

Please review our calendar for important dates and events that are happening here this month, in particular our year –end liturgy and the grade 4 graduation celebration happening June 28th. We extend an invitation to everyone to attend.

We are excited to extend a permanent contract to Mrs. Stonehouse, where she will be teaching kindergarten; we welcome Mr. Langley, who will be assigned to teach grade 3 next year. We have hired Mrs. Annette Matheson to teach the combined grade 1 & 2 class; and Ms. Deanna Henderson who will be taking Mrs. Langille's maternity leave.

Some additional changes next year will see Ms. Niwa teaching a grade 1 homeroom. As Mr. Gaudet will be leaving us, we wish much success in his future endeavors and thank him for his commitment to his students in grade 3 this year. We would also like to thank Mrs. Buschert for contributing her gifts and talents with our students in kindergarten.

We look forward to the safe return of all our students on Tuesday, September 4th, 2018 when our new school year begins. To our graduating grade 4 students, we wish you heartfelt thanks for your contributions to our school throughout these past years and many successes in your future endeavors. We will miss you!

God Bless
