Fr. Gerard Redmond, C.Ss.R (1907-1983), was a Catholic priest of the Redemptorist religious order who played a key role in the initial development of a Catholic school system in Hinton, Alberta. He was pastor of Our Lady of the Foothills Parish in Hinton from 1964 – 1970 and from 1980 -1983. Born in Quebec, he grew up in Riviere Qui Barre, Alberta before studying for the priesthood. Fr. Gerard loved to sing and played several musical instruments. He played baseball and hockey as a young man, and later golf. In a 1981 interview, Fr. Redmond described himself as a renaissance man, because he was interested in everything and still learning.
