Nomination Day For Evergreen Catholic Separate School Division

Nomination Period IS OPEN for nominations:

  • Start Date: November 28, 2025
  • End Date: 12 Noon on December 29, 2025

Pursuant to Section 25 of the Local Authorities Election Act, a person may file a nomination to become a candidate for a by-election, within the period beginning on the day after the resolution or bylaw is passed (beginning on Friday, November 28, 2025) to set election day for the by-election and ending at 12 noon on nomination day, (ending 12 noon on Monday, December 29, 2025). The deadline is 12 Noon on December 29, 2025.

Number of Vacancies: One (1)

Eligibility Requirement: Candidates seeking nomination for trustee in a Catholic school board ward must reside at an address located within the Catholic ward boundaries that have been established inside the corresponding public school board ward.  Only individuals whose primary residence is within these designated Catholic areas are eligible to submit nomination papers and stand for election in that ward. Proof of residency may be required to confirm eligibility.

Nominations will be accepted at the following locations and completed packages must be accompanied by $100 – must be in the form of cash, certified cheque, money order as per Bylaw #2025-01.

Nomination Papers:

Election forms have been updated to reflect recent changes to the Local Authorities Election Act and are available for download below or from Municipal Election Forms (Alberta.ca).

The Returning Officer will be available to receive nomination packages before the deadline. Please complete the forms and submit them unsigned to the Returning Officer. An in‑person meeting will then be scheduled to review and formally commission the documents with you.

  • Date: Monday, December 29, 2025
  • Time: 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
  • Location: Contact the Returning Officer for details
  • At any time after noon on nomination day, nomination papers may be examined by an elector during regular business hours and in the presence of the Returning Officer.
  • Every nomination must be accompanied by a deposit of $100.00. Acceptable forms of payment include cash, bank drafts, and money orders.

Alberta school boards help shape the future of local communities by governing the education of young people. The provincial government, through the Minister of Education, grants school boards the authority to make decisions regarding the direction and quality of local public education. Accountability to the public is ensured through the election of local school board trustees every four years.
