Barracuda Anti-Spam Email Protection Tuesday, May 10 2005
The long awaited day has come! We have installed our new email Anti-Spam firewall to protect us from email spam and email borne viruses.
This new firewall was extensively researched, and in speaking with technical staff from other school divisions, and receiving information from Alberta Education staff that the University of Alberta selected this product to protect them from email spam and email borne viruses, we decided that a product that has a success rate of 90-95% at blocking spam was a great choice to meet our needs.
The new product, the Barracuda Anti-Spam Firewall 200 (www.barracudanetworks.com) should more than meet our needs. Should any spam sneak through the new product, you can email postmaster@ecsrd.ca with the spam sender's email address so it can be blocked manually if needed. The new system was brought online at 2:30pm today and has already blocked an amazing 639 spam emails! If you have any questions or concerns regarding the new system, feel free to email me.

Email Service Interruptions Monday, May 9 2005
Please note, due to new Anti-Spam protection being installed tomorrow (May 10, 2005), email service will experience intermittent interruptions. These interruptions should be short in nature, but may be frequent. If further downtime is required, a Networks Administrator will contact your school and advise your staff.
Thank you in advance for your patience. The new Anti-Spam protection has been long awaited and will eliminate an expected 90-95% of email spam and email-borne viruses.

Simply upload and download your files via our secure Online File Store and work on them at home. All that is needed is an account and internet service at home! No more burning CDs, or fighting with limited file sizes for email transfers, just log in, upload, go home and download!
