Advent is the first season of the Church year. Advent begins four Sundays before Christmas, when we celebrate the Nativity of the Lord. The word Advent means 'coming'. As Christians, we anticipate the coming of the Infant Jesus as Emmanuel, God with us, as a baby in Bethlehem and Christ's second coming at the end of time.
Our Evergreen Catholic Schools faith theme for 2016-2017 is Rejoicing in God's Mercy. The theme was chosen to highlight the Jubilee of Mercy (December 2015 through November 2016) proclaimed by Pope Francis. The scripture verse that supports our theme is from St. Paul's Letter to the Romans (Romans 15.13): May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.
We are a unique school offering kindergarten through grade 12 education. As a Catholic school we offer faith based education and a close knit caring community. We continually focus on developing deep learning and critical thinking skills, as well as providing many opportunities in sports and music for student leadership.
Saint Mary, a faithful young Jewish woman, was chosen by God to be the mother of Jesus. Catholics pray for her intercession in the Hail Mary prayer. She is also called the Blessed Virgin Mary and Our Lady (Notre Dame in French). Her feast day is January 1.
