As of September 2012, a second K-4 Catholic school will open in Spruce Grove to alleviate overpopulation at St. Joseph School. In September of 2012, K- 4 Catholic education will be offered at St. Joseph School (195 Weston Drive) and St. Marguerite School (395 Grove Drive).
The current student capacity of St. Joseph School is slightly larger (due to the site footprint) than the student capacity of St. Marguerite School. As a result 55% of the projected enrolment (for September 2012) will remain at St. Joseph School, and 45% of the projected enrolment will be directed to St. Marguerite School. This will allow each school to accommodate future growth and development in Spruce Grove. Most staffing decisions have now been made.
The middle school program currently at St. Marguerite will move to St. Thomas Aquinas and the high school program will move to the new St. Peter the Apostle.
Based on the program changes the Board proposed new boundary changes back in June of 2011. The Board reviewed the feedback from the 6 month consultation period that was open to all members of our community. Based on the feedback, the Board moved at their meeting on December 12, 2011 to put into place new boundaries. The maps below indicate the designated schools for the Spruce Grove areas affected by the boundary changes. Below is also the map for the Devon area providing clarification of transportation services.
